Are US Banks Still Lending?

Posted by admin December - 1 - 2008 - Monday

The severe impact of the credit crunch continues to be felt by consumers across the USA and the rest of the world. Many individuals and families are waking up each day to face significant financial issues and challenges to pay even the monthly food bills.

It is therefore unsurprising that there is an increase in the need for unsecured loans, the challenge however is that many of the banks are understandably unwilling in many cases to lend to people with poor credit ratings. This is a marked and significant change from the arguably aggressive lending tactics adopted by many banks one year ago.

There are still some loans available, such as those offered by the Beneficial Corporation (Beneficial unsecured personal loans) which still appear to be available on the market. Beneficial’s holding company, HSBC, also offers unsecured products under other trading arms such as HFC and HSBC Finance.

The recent gloomy economic data which has been produced by numerous G20 governments does not make happy reading, the recent indications are that the situation appears to be getting worse in the short-term. The actions of the combined governments is, as yet, unproven so many of us will remain highly addicted to closely assessing the financial situation of both our home budgets and our government spending budgets.
