First Hawaiian Bank Purport to be in a Strong Position

Posted by admin February - 12 - 2009 - Thursday

First Hawaiian BankThe First Hawaiian Bank (FHB) has continued to purport that it has strong financial credentials.

There are numerous financial banking data points provided by FHB, such as profitable historical accounts and top 10% ratings by external credit agencies such as Moody’s.  Any potential investor does however need to dig further into the First Hawaiian Bank than merely taking these facts at face value.

There have been several cases recently where a bank’s financial position did not necessarily match the credit rating represented by Moodys, this is very unsurprising in these uncertain times.  Using the FHB historic accounts should also be treated with care.

As mentioned continously in The Finance Owl’s financial ratio section, an historical set of accounts is not in itself a predictor of the future. The FHB does however appear to have a lot of positives going for it and is therefore is probably worth further investigation… the point of this blog is simply to remind our readers to dig behind the headlines.
