Ally Bank, Interest Rates and Iceland

Ally Bank is a sizeable US bank which offers such financial products as the Ally Certificate of Deposit. Ally bank has been receiving a lot of press recently as a result of the GMAC history. Many consumers have been spooked by the links with the GM news, yet there is also evidence on blog forums of consumers being very pleased with the new branding and customer service approach. There has been concern raised over the apparent high levels of interest on some of the Certificates of Deposit, yet it is also quoted how FDIC cover an element of this. The most interesting thing is how some other banks have apparently been complaining about the high interest offered in order to gain market share. Many cannot believe these comments, yet it must be remembered that many people mocked certain banks and analysts when they warned about the Icelandic banks.
